Molecular formula: CuCl
Molecular weight: 98.993
Properties:
White cubic crystal or white powder. The relative density is 4.14. Melting point 430 °C. Boiling point 1490 °C. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid and ammonia to generate complex, insoluble in ethanol. Catalysts for organic synthesis, and be used to pigment, corrosion prevetion industries.
Easily oxidized to the highest price copper salts in the air , see light then broken down into brown. Stable in dry air, damp is easy to change to blue to brown. Melting was iron gray, exposed in the air rapidly oxidized to greeny basic salt. Case of light brown. Rapidly hydrolyzed into copper oxide hydrate in hot water and become red, slow response with strong acid .
